Ancient Civilization Presentation

     The Ancient Civilization presentations were very wonderful. There were 6 presentations namely the Mayans, Greeks, Cree, Chinese, Indians and Egyptians. The presentations were put on the Prezi, which was another way to present other than the powerpoint. It is sort of like the powerpoint, but much better and you can do more to it. Learning the ancient civilizations I think, is very important. It tells us about the past and how it all started. I really liked the presentations, and I learned a lot of interesting facts. A part of each presentation that was very fun to watch was the infomercial. In the infomercial, we went back in time in our civilization and reported something about it like we were on the news. The background was a place of our civilization. The students put a lot of effort into their presentations and they really took their time, that's why the presentations looked creative and attractive. They put in a lot of important and interesting facts, wonderful pictures and videos.

Mr. Benjoe's Presentation

Mr. Benjoe's presentation was very interesting. It was about the Cree people and how they should be referred to as. Mr. Benjoe explained a lot about it and he shared to us something about himself. He explained them clearly and I was able to understand his presentation very well. I learned that "native" people shouldn't be called "indians" because that is very inappropriate and that they are not. They are supposed to be called according to the group of people that they belong. Mr. Benjoe also told us about some words and definitions about his culture. I also learned about where he came from and about his name. Surprisingly, he said that his name was just made up and it originated from something.

What: The article is about who the new pope will be and how the voting system of electing a new
pope works.

Who: The people involved are the Catholic people, the Cardinals, and the new pope.

When: This happens from February 28, 2013 - present.

Where: This happens in the Vatican City in Rome.

Why: The former pope has resigned and we need to elect a new pope. This impacts the whole
world especially the Roman Catholics. This is important because this is our tradition. This
deals most with Anthropology.

Does God exist?

Yes, God does exist. As a Roman Catholic, I believe in God and I have faith in Him. I also believe everything about God in the Bible. He is the Creator. He created the universe and He also created us. Without Him, there would be no universe. We may not see Him, but we know that God exists through our feelings, thoughts and beliefs.

What do you think of Social Studies?

Social Studies is the study of the world. It is the study of history, its people, features and interesting facts. Social Studies is very important because without it, we wouldn't be able to know what's going on and also about the world we're living in. Social Studies is categorized into 7 categories: History, Anthropology, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Economics and Psychology. History is about the past events that have happened. It's very important because we learn from the past, apply it in the future and it also helps us in the present. Geography is about the study of the world and its features. Anthropology, Political Science, Sociology, Economics and Psychology are connected together because they talk about us humans, how we live and how we interact with each other. It is a very interesting subject because you get to know a lot of new information. I think this is going to be a fun class. We get to use a lot of technology to help us learn in Social Studies.
